Henry MacDougall

Obituary: Henry MacDougall, 16, Ludington.

Henry Gordon MacDougall, 16, of Ludington, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from injuries sustained during an automobile accident.

After parents Gordon MacDougall and Jennifer (Mishler) Hansberger attempted to conceive for six years, the Lord finally created a son who was special and unique enough to be Henry.  He was born in Ludington on March 2, 2001.  While his time on Earth was too short, Henry lived his life to the fullest.  His bright eyes and big smile drew people to him.  He brought joy to all those around him. He was funny and energetic, soft hearted and sensitive, and always kind to those around him.  Henry had a work ethic beyond his years; he never complained about the hours he was asked and enjoyed his summer employment at Jamesport Brewery.

Henry was a junior at Ludington High School where he was on the tennis team.  He could often be found fishing or actively engaged in an X-Box marathon, and if he wasn’t doing that, he was probably listening to music, hanging out with friends, or asleep somewhere!  Henry loved his friends, of which he has many, who will always remember his interesting shoe obsession.

Henry is survived by his parents, Gordon MacDougall and Jennifer (Ryan) Hansberger; girlfriend, Elise Doan; siblings: Stephen (Abbie Vida) Mishler and Emma MacDougall, Austin and Brian Hansberger, and Garett Krolczyk; grandparents: Stuart and Kathy MacDougall and Lois Mishler; nephew, Tatum Mishler; aunts and uncles: Shawn (Angie) MacDougall, Scott (Kyla) MacDougall, Nancy (Chris) Engfer, John Mishler, and Sally Mishler; and cousins: Austin, Kenzie, Reece, Ray, Graham, Megan, Tyler, Anthony, Bruce, Olivia, and Vincent.

Henry’s grandfather, Henry Mishler, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the L.F. Peterson Auditorium at Ludington High School, with visitation starting at noon.  A dessert reception will follow in the high school cafeteria.  Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington.  Henry will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Branch Township during a private committal service.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family, which will be used to help memorialize Henry.
