Derek Johnson

Derek Michael Johnson, 27, of Ludington went to fly with the angels on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.  Derek was born on April 9, 1990 in Ludington, the son of Gina G. Johnson and graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 2009.  He lived life to the fullest, usually in the fast lane and always outdoors in the open.  Derek loved to spend time hunting, fishing, working on cars, and especially in Motorsports, racing at many local tracks like Grattan Speedway or Big Air Motocross in Newaygo.  He worked with his brother as a Roughneck for Consolidated Drilling LLC.  The job took him all over Michigan where he was able to meet new people and explore different areas.

Derek will be greatly missed by his mother Gina of Scottville; his brothers: Tyler Page (fiancée Melanie Stauffer) of Scottville, Travis Barrette and Blake Barrette, both of Ludington; his grandmother Deborah Bergez of Ludington; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather Roger L. Johnson.

A celebration of Derek’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services – Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville led by Pastor Jerry Theis of Radiant Church. Friends may meet with his family for a time of reflection and memory on Monday afternoon from 3 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.  Those who wish to remember Derek with a memorial donation are asked to consider his family to assist with expenses.
