PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Two people were injured following a two vehicle crash at US 10 just east of Pere Marquette Highway Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred about 1 p.m. in front of McDonald’s, 5389 W. US 10 and involved a Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck and a Ford F-150 pickup truck. It appeared that the Chevrolet Z71 was eastbound on US 10 and collided with the F-150, which possibly was making a left-turn into McDonald’s, however the direction of travel of the F-150 was not immediately known, according to Mason County Sheriff Sgt. Shayne Eskew. Eskew said the crash involved a male driver and a female driver.

From observation on the scene, the male was driving the Chevrolet while the female was driving the Ford. Eskew said he did not know the ages of the drivers nor their towns of residency. Personnel from Ludington Fire Department used hydraulic equipment to extricate the driver of the Chevrolet from his vehicle. The male driver appeared to be in his mid-50s while the female driver appeared to be in her late-50s or early 60s, Eskew said. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Two medical helicopters were called in, one landed at the hospital while the other landed at Mason County Airport.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Ludington Police Department, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS.

More information will be released when available.
