LUDINGTON — Two Pontiac men received minor injuries after their boat struck the south breakwater Tuesday night. The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. According to Mason County Sheriff Marine Deputy Mike Fort, the men were returning from fishing when the 18-feet long Rinker struck the rocks on the northwest corner of the end of the breakwater.

Ludington fire/police boat Harbor One transported the two men, ages 77 and 78, to Loomis Street boat ramps where they were then taken by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and treated for facial injuries.

The crash marks the first time since 2015 that a boat has struck one of the breakwaters in Ludington.
