PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 71-year-old Branch man died Friday evening after the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a three vehicle crash in the 5200 block of West US 10. According to Mason County sheriff deputies on the scene, a Chevrolet Cruz, driven by a 20-year-old Bitely woman, was eastbound on US 10, in the passing lane, when a Ford Explorer, driven by a 59-year-old Lennon woman, apparently pulled out of the Burger King driveway into its path. The motorcycle was then struck by the two vehicles, killing its driver, and seriously injuring his 71-year-old female passenger. The man was pronounced dead on the scene; the female passenger was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

The crash, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. closed US 10 for several hours. The highway opened back up at 10:20 p.m. The crash remains under investigation.

Responding to the scene were Michigan State Police, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Scottville Police Department, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS.
