LUDINGTON — A 40-year-old Florida man was sentenced to eight months in jail with credit for 107 days served for two drug convictions and a weapons conviction in 51st Circuit Court Monday, June 12.

Isreal Antonio Burgos, of Hialeah, Florida, pleaded guilty last month to possession with intent to deliver marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon and cocaine possession.

Burgos initially faced nine charges stemming from the drug overdose of a 35-year-old Miami, Florida man at the Holiday Inn Express in Amber Township last March. The other counts were dismissed in a plea agreement.

Following the completion of his jail term in Mason County, Burgos will return to Florida for further supervision for a pending probation violation case.

Mason County Prosecutor described the incident as “a very complicated incident at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel involving drugs and guns.”

“He very much regrets the position he has put himself in,” said Burgos’ attorney Jeffrey West.

Burgos was initially charged with:
• possession with intent to deliver marijuana;
• possession of cocaine;
• possession of heroin;
• possession of LSD;
• maintaining a drug house;
• carrying a concealed weapon;
• two counts of felony firearms; and felon in possession of a firearm.

“Deputies recovered four long guns, one shot gun, three handguns, suspected cocaine, LSD, heroin, and marijuana during the original investigation,” Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said previously. Burgos was arrested and lodged in the Mason County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
