LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

-Griffin Dominic Gruse, 19, of 12235 Mill Run Ct., Apt. 1B, Holland, pleaded guilty May 16 to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for 12 days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; must have substance abuse evaluation; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; driver’s license suspended 180 days and restricted to 150 days; and $665 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS). A charge of minor in possession of alcohol was dismissed.

-Julianita Esparza-Kenyon, 21, of 5634 W. Johnson Rd., Pere Marquette Township, pleaded guilty May 22 to being a passenger with an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs; 12 months of probation and $265 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Doyle Paul Kenyon, 20, of 5634 W. Johnson Rd., Pere Marquette Township, pleaded guilty May 22 to driving while license expired and was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; must seek and maintain employment; 12 months of probation and $225 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Matthew Jason Case, 43, of 6413 Duneview, Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty May 16 to third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year; $1.99 in restitution; and $535 in fines/costs.

-Thomas Michael Grimm, 26, of 1950 S. Scottville Rd., Custer Township, pleaded guilty May 16 to failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year and $575 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of improper plates was dismissed.

-Paradise Ciara Cwanda Wyrick, 24, of 166 Mason Ave., Norton Shores, pleaded guilty May 16 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to four days in jail with credit for four day served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year and $285 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of improper plates was dismissed.

-Mark Allen Best, 44, of 6710 Ann St., Pere Marquette Township, pleaded guilty May 16 to disorderly person – jostling and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with the victim; no drugs/alcohol; must not enter establishments where alcohol is served by the glass; subject to random PBTs; and $285 in fines/costs. A charge of assault & battery was dismissed.

-Ricky Gonzalez, 53, of 1874 E. Broadway Ave., Muskegon, pleaded guilty May 18 to transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 30 days discretionary jail for one year; 12 months of probation and $265 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Steven Christopher Westbrook, 25, of 1934 N. Lakeshore Dr., Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty May 18 to sting – selling tobacco to a minor and was sentenced to pay $260 in fines/costs.

-Jasmine Satin Jenks, 27, of 2904 S. Grantsyn Trail, Branch, pleaded guilty May 18 to sting – selling tobacco to a minor and was sentenced to pay $260 in fines/costs.

-Melanie Mae Sayles, 44, of 3602 Jefferson Rd., Pentwater, pleaded no contest May 18 to transporting an insecure load and was sentenced to pay $175 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Chase Allen Rathburn, 18, of 3886 N. US-31, Sherman Township, pleaded guilty May 22 to allowing a person to drive in violation of the motor vehicle code and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; 12 months of probation and $335 in fines/costs.

Dismissals

-Donald Glenn Fitch, Jr., 34, of 3046 N. Amber Rd., Victory Township, had charges of assault/resist/obstructing a police officer and disorderly person – obscene conduct dismissed on May 19 after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.

-Matthew Edward Lunde, 38, of 705 E. Melendy St., Ludington, had a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security (no insurance) dismissed on May 15 after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
