AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 33-year-old Ludington man led police on a wild goose chase early Wednesday morning, May 17, that involved the suspect fleeing out a window, climbing a pine tree to a roof where he jumped off before Mason County sheriff’s deputies, with the assistance of K-9 Cash, nabbed him, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The suspect was arrested at 5:23 a.m. for resisting and opposing police and on two bench warrants for failure to appear issued in Mason County and by the Hart post of the Michigan State Police, the sheriff said.

Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of West Forest Hill Circle following a 911 call reporting a “disturbance,” Cole said.

“The suspect fled out a window upon arrival of deputies and was tracked by K-9 Cash for over a half mile before the suspect climbed a pine tree and attempted to hide on a resident’s roof,” Cole said. “He then jumped off the roof and fled again before being arrested after about another half mile track.”
