WSCC community education includes family bonding events.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Registration is underway for community members interested in West Shore Community College’s Business & Community Education (BCE) Spring into Summer season programming.

“Fun in the Sun Adventures,” “Homemade Summer,” “Mind, Body and Soul,” as well as art and business classes are among the series of classes, events and workshops which are designed to engage, inspire and motivate.

“Fun in the Sun Adventures” will offer three weekends of family bonding and activities on Hamlin Lake’s Camp Douglas Smith.  Also offered on Saturdays, from mid-May through June, is a series of lighthouse tours showcasing Big and Little Sable, Ludington and White River Lighthouse stations. Fly fishing, kayaking and hiking are returning favorites.

“Homemade Summer” includes a focus on tea with Kombucha teaology and herbal tea blending.  Cooking with herbs, grilling, as well as “Green Thumb Gardening” are also on the list of new classes.

The “Mind, Body and Soul” series offers a diverse set of classes for mental and physical health. A new offering is “Capoeira” which combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music. A group of martial arts classes are also being offered in partnership with Freedom Martial Arts.

“Business and Community Education is an opportunity for our community members to participate in activities that may otherwise be unavailable, to further explore hobbies, or to enhance a particular skill set.  Never stop learning or trying new things,” says Crystal Young, Director of the Business Opportunity Center.

A program announcement has been delivered to households in the WSCC district. Additional programs listing the line-up of classes are available at local chambers offices, libraries, and senior centers. Online registration for the BCE classes continues throughout the season.

For a full schedule of noncredit classes offered by BCE and to register, go to www.westshore.edu and click on “Community & Personal Enrichment” tab, then click on “Business & Community” in the right menu box.
