LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in 79th District Court:

– Zachary Alan Shurlow, 23, of 618 ½ E. Melendy St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to 70 days in jail with credit for 64 days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; must abide by parole conditions; and driver’s license suspended for 365 days and restricted for 305 days. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).  

-Judith Anne Miller, 52, of 3283 W. Kinney Rd., Riverton Township, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to impaired driving and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact weekend; no drugs/alcohol for two years; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must obtain substance abuse counseling; and $1,050 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Chad Fredrick Collins, 26, of 4851 N. Cleveland St., Fountain, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to driving while license not valid and failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; must not operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and insurance; and $790 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. Charges of third-degree retail fraud, possession of marijuana and improper plates were dismissed.

-Chad William Edward Bonnville, 23, of 117 E. Second St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to impaired driving and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact weekend; no drugs/alcohol; may possess alcohol only for work purposes; subject to random PBTs; must attend the DUI II Program; and $870 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of having an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle was dismissed.

-Rolando Vela, 44, of 3449 N. 48th Ave., Mears, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to using marijuana and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; and $540 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed.

-Logan Lee Harris, 26, of 1774 Independence Ave., Amber Township, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to embezzlement by an agent or trustee and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year; $15.80 in restitution; and $600 in fines/costs.

-Ashley Nicole Martinsen, 27, of 112 E. Danaher St., Apt. 2, Ludington, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 45 days in jail with credit for 45 days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must continue counseling with Community Mental Health; and $600 in fines/costs.

-Michael Edward Roberts, 29, of 109 N. Gordon Rd., Amber Township, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to using marijuana and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; must have a substance abuse evaluation; and $600 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed.

-Daniel Ray Dunn, 47, of 2302 N. Benson Rd., Sheridan Township, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to impaired driving and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact weekend; no drugs/alcohol; must complete Alcohol Highway Safety Education; and $870 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of driving while license expired was dismissed.

-Melissa Elaine Brower, 24, of 106 Gay St., Scottville, pleaded guilty Apr. 12 to operating while intoxicated (OWI) and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact weekend; no drugs/alcohol; must continue current counseling with Community Mental Health; and $1,070 in fines/costs. May perform 85 hours of community service in lieu of fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. Two counts of assault/resisting/obstructing police were dismissed.

-Jeremy Allen Epplett, 37, of 6576 W. Sugar Grove Rd., Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty Apr. 11 to failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year and $575 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

Dismissals

-Gary Dean Maccune, 26, of 2295 N. 34th St., Fountain, had two counts of second-degree retail fraud and one count of operating with a suspended license dismissed without prejudice on Apr. 13. Court records indicate, “Defendant has been sentenced to Michigan Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.”
