Obituary: Dale Frederick Smith, 49, Branch.

Dale Frederick Smith, 49 of Branch, passed away on March 18, 2017 at his home. 

Dale was born January 31, 1968 in Ludington, the son of the late Frederick Smith of Branch and Helen (Willavage) Smith of Branch. 

Dale attended Mason County Eastern High School and graduated with the class of 1987.  He loved working as a heavy equipment operator all of his life.  He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, mushroom hunting, Nascar and working on his own race car and truck.  Dale was well known for his sense of humor.  He loved to laugh with his close friends and family.  He cared deeply for his family and treated his closest friends like they were a part of his family too. 

He is survived by his sons: Dale Andrew (Chelsy) Cormany and James Dean LaVine; sisters: Sue Ann (Joe) Smalley, Cindy Lou (Art) Marcinkowski and Sandra Kay Eastway (Len); brother, Frederick Dale Jr. (Linda) Smith; granddaughter: LeAnn Grace Cormany; fiance, Suzie Thompson and his “Peanut” (daughter): Natalie Sawdy; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents: Everett and Evelyn Smith and George and Anna Willavage; also, his dog Scoob.

There will be a celebration of Dale’s life on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Sandra Eastway, (5982 Riverview Drive, Ludington, MI 49431), to help with funeral expenses.
