SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — A 26-year-old Wyoming, Mich. man was injured Wednesday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving struck a parked truck on US 31 expressway. The crash occurred about 1 p.m.

The van was northbound on US 31 north of Meisenheimer Road. The Chevrolet pickup, owned by a Muskegon man, had been parked on the right shoulder of the road overnight with a flat tire. The truck owner had intended to return to repair the truck but was not present at the time of the crash. The impact of the crash caused the truck to go down into an embankment on the east side of the expressway.

The driver of the van was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by ambulance where he was being treated for non life-threatening injuries. He was issued a ticket for improper lane use on a roadway.

Responding to the crash were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS ambulance.
