Obituary: James Brown, 81, Scottville.

James Vaughn Brown, 85, of Scottville, passed away on November 29, 2016, at Spectrum Health of Ludington with his loving family by his side. 

James was born on February 10, 1935, to the late Arther V. and Mable (Wiley) Brown in Saginaw.  He attended Marlette High School and graduated in 1952.  He married Mary Ruth (Seeling) Thompson on January 20, 1993 in Las Vegas. 

James was a self-employed farmer and truck driver.  He drove for Aunt Janes Pickle Company for 23 years, retiring in 1999.  He was a member of Teamsters Union and the Pere Marquette Historical Motoring Car Club.  He loved attending plays, art, Irish music, reading, writing poetry, woodworking, building his own home, driving his tractor and observing natures wonders.  His pal was his dog Gizmo.  He especially enjoyed morning breakfasts and afternoon coffee breaks at Teales, Ann’s, Eddie G’s and North Country Café. 

James excelled at making friends wherever he went.  He was always ready to help his family and friends.

James is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters: Dixie (Ken) Jacot, Cove AK, Donna Brown, Greenville, SC, Tina Holden, Scottville, Teri Thompson, and Tami (Troy) Sarles,  Marquette; brother, Allen Brown of Newport Beach, Cali.; sister in-law: Lois Brown,  Saginaw; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan Brown; brother, George Brown.

Cremation has taken place.  There will be a funeral service held on Monday, December 5, 2016’ at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home, Ludington, with Pastor William Huether officiating.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mason County Central High School band, forensics, and drama departments.
