HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — Victory Township resident Jon McKinley III, 27, was seriously injured following a head-on crash on North Lincoln Road Thursday morning. According to Mason County Sheriff Sgt. Adam Lamb, nearby homeowners were awoken by their dog about 6:30 a.m. and discovered the crash just south of Sugar Grove Road.

McKinley was driving north on Lincoln Road in a 1988 Mazda. According to Sgt. Lamb, evidence from the crash investigation indicated the Mazda crossed the centerline and crashed head-on to a Ford Ranger pickup driven by Darryl Mast, 53, of Hamlin Township.

Both men were transported by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. McKinley was then transported to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. Mast was being treated at Ludington hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Hamlin Township FIre Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
