LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in 79th District Court:

-Rion Christopher White, 22, 8943 S. Bonney Rd., Chase, Michigan, pleaded guilty on September 13 to third-degree retail fraud (shoplifting) and was sentenced to 18 days in jail with credit for 18 days already served, 93 days discretionary jail for one year, and $854.15 in fines, costs and restitution. As part of a plea agreement, the prosecutor dropped an additional charge of third degree retail fraud.

-Jeremy Leon Hawkins, 33, 1065 Cedar St., Baldwin, pleaded guilty on September 13 to operating a vehicle with a high blood alcohol content and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day already served, six months discretionary jail for one year, must attend victims impact panel, no drugs/alcohol, subject to random PBTs, must complete alcohol highway safety education, and $1,070 in fines and costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State. As part of a plea agreement, the prosecutor dropped a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI).

-Alex Christain Jobbins-Ortiz, 21, 602 S. Madison St., Ludington, pleaded guilty on September 15 to driving while license suspended and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year, 12 months of probation, and $285 in fines and costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State.

-Alfonso Gabriel Cuitlahuac Lopez, 16, 605 S. Washington Ave., Ludington, pleaded guilty on September 15 to failure to display a valid driver’s license and was sentenced to six months of probation, must improve school grades, and no driving until legally able to do so.

-David William Edward Carpenter, 27, 2740 W. Kistler Rd., Riverton Township, pleaded guilty on September 19 to failure to report an accident and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year and $325 in fines and costs.
