Lost hiker found after multi-agency search; Fountain man arrested after running into 2 motorcycles.

GRANT TOWNSHIP — Multiple police and fire/rescue agencies spent three hours searching for a missing camper Sunday afternoon. The 27-year-old Dearborn man was reported lost nearly 22 hours after he became separated from his friends in the Manistee National Forest The friends reported the man missing when one of the friends approached a Mason County sheriff deputy who was investigating a crash at the corner of Quarterline and Nurnberg roads about 2 p.m. (see related story below).

Multiple departments were called to search including MCSO deputies and mounted division, Grant Township Fire Dept., Riverton Township Fire Dept., Hamlin Twp. Fire Dept., Free Soil/Meade Fire Dept., U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement Division, Life EMS, and Mason County Emergency Management, along with civilian hikers.

The man was found about 5 p.m. Sunday.

servpro_springstead_022616GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 61-year-old Free Soil man was arrested on a charge of drunk driving after the vehicle he was operating reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign and struck two motorcycles at the intersection of Quarterline and Nurnberg roads Sunday afternoon.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said the crash occurred about 12:59 p.m. The crash resulted in non-life threatening injuries to one of the cyclists. The man was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing injury. Grant Township Fire Department and Life EMS ambulance also responded.

6:59 a.m.: Breaking and entering, 5700 block of West Johnson Road, Pere Marquette Township. An undisclosed amount of cash was reportedly stolen.

8:53 a.m.: Damaged property, cut tires, 100 block of Nelson Road, Pere Marquette Township.

12:30 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Jagger Road and Lakeshore Drive, Hamlin Township.

4:07 p.m.: Larceny of fishing poles, 700 block of South Main Street, City of Scottville. Victim reported the theft of four fishing poles.

7:18 p.m.: A 25-year-old Fountain man was cited for open intoxicants in a motor vehicle following a traffic stop at Campbell and Sugar Grove roads, Sheridan Township.

7:30 p.m.: A sex offender registry violation in the 700 block of South Main Street was referred to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office. A 44-year-old Scottville man allegedly moved into the residence without registering, City of Scottville.

Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016

2:09 a.m.: A 25-year-old Fountain man was arrested for OWI following a traffic stop at North Main Street and Broadway, City of Scottville.

5:46 a.m.: A 29-year-old Holton man was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Mason County failure to appear warrant following a traffic stop at Oceana Drive and Pere Marquette Highway, Summit Township.

7:40 a.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Lakeshore Drive and Decker road, Hamlin Township.
