VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College’s music department is inviting area musicians to participate in its performing music ensembles.

For those wishing to be part of the college’s Wind Symphony, the first rehearsal will be held on August 31, from 6:10 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the instrumental studio, room 331, in the Arts and Sciences Center. Members are asked to bring their instruments for the rehearsal as it will be a full rehearsal.

The WSCC Community Choir will continue its tradition of bringing the community outstanding choral performances under the direction of Becky Sopha and Lew Wilson.

The first choir rehearsal will be held on Sept. 6, and the choir rehearses on Tuesday nights, at 7 p.m., in the vocal studio, room 327, of the Arts and Sciences Center.

“We are very fortunate to have such talented directors as Becky and Lew who bring years of experience and musical talent, which results in high level performances year after year,” says Ted Malt, professor of music studies and director of performing arts.

There are no auditions required for the choir and anyone with previous vocal experience is welcome. Those interested in joining the Community Choir are asked to contact Sopha at bsophachoirs@yahoo.com or come to the first rehearsal.

The WSCC Jazz Ensemble will be off and running on Sept. 15, with complete instrumentation and a strong group of musicians. The group will practice on Thursday nights from 7:15 p.m. 8:30 p.m.  Musicians may join this group upon director appointment or audition.
