AMBER TOWNSHIP — A family lost their home following a fire Saturday afternoon in the Hidden Forest mobile home community. The home, located at 3812 W. Pine View Court, was occupied by Bill and Connie Sirks, along with an adult daughter and her 2-week-old infant, according to Jody Hanis, park manager. The house was owned by Jim Frost of Victory Township, Hanis said.

Pere Marquette Fire Chief Larry Gaylord said flames were coming from the back of the house when the first firefighting unit arrived on scene. He said non of the occupants were injured but one firefighter sought medical treatment for minor heat exhaustion. Gaylord said that some pets were unaccounted for following the fire.

Chief Gaylord said he did not know how the fire started but planned an investigation by the department. He declared the house a total loss.

Responding to the scene were Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Scottville Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Life EMS, and American Red Cross.
