PENTWATER TOWNSHIP — Cindy Lou Earle, 65, of Mears died following a moped crash on Longbridge Road near Orange Street Wednesday, July 20, at approximately 7:15 p.m., according to the Hart post of the Michigan State Police.

Earle “was thrown from her moped causing her to hit her head on the roadway causing a serious head injury,” according to an MSP press release.

Earle was traveling west on her moped on Longbridge Road when she lost control on a curve, the press release states. Earl was not wearing a helmet at the time of crash.

“Witnesses stopped and assisted Earle at that scene until EMS, law enforcement and fire rescue personnel arrived on scene. EMS transported Earle from the scene to Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby, where she was airlifted by Aeromed to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where she later passed away as a result of her injuries.

“This crash investigation is ongoing; however, alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be a factor. Witnesses on scene are cooperating with investigators. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Pentwater Fire and Rescue, and Oceana EMS.”
