Douglas Roland Kelly, 89, of Ludington, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016.  He was born June 14, 1927, in Ludington to Marion and Grace (Woodall) Kelly.  He was employed as a water treatment plant operator for the City Of Ludington and also worked at the Mason County wastewater facility.  Doug graduated from Ludington High School with the Class 1945.  He went on to proudly serve our nation in the United States Army.  Doug loved building model ships and HO scale model railroads, restoring antique furniture, woodworking and cabinet making. He also for many years assisted the Ludington Optimist Club’s Chess Tournament held at Ludington Hugh School.

Douglas is survived by his wife: Donna (Koning) Kelly; three daughters: Susie Jo (Michael) Matthews of Chatanooga, Tenn., Maria (Robert) Carlin of Owosso, and Kimberly (Kevin) Bishop of Oxford, North Carolina and one son: Robert (Brenda) Kelly of Manistee;  five grandchildren: Andrea (Kelly) Murphy. Seth (Janelle) Kelly, Tyler James Bishop, Gage Bishop, and Hunter Bishop; as well as one sister: JoEllen Lawrence of Greenville.  He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Liliana Malinar, sister, Marian Louise Benoit, and grandson, Chad Allyn Kelly.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Kelly will be held Friday, July 22, 2016, at 1 p.m. at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Ludington with Mr. William Swan officiating.  A time of visitation will be held Friday, one hour prior to the service at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Mr. Kelly will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington.  The family requests that any memorials be directed to Hospice of Michigan, 5177 W.
