Victor Edwin Larson, 67, passed to his rest July 16, 2016, at the family home in Free Soil, Michigan, following a six-year valiant battle with cancer.

Born June 7, 1949, in Ludington, Michigan, Victor was the third of eight offspring born of the late Edwin and Margie (Miller) Larson.

Victor attended Cedar Lake Academy in Cedar Lake, Michigan, and graduated from Mason County Central High School in 1968. He assumed the operation of the family farm upon the death of his father in November, 1968, and remained there until his death.

Victor’s mechanical genius was evident in his many  farm equipment rebuilds, a talent that he passed on to his sons and grandsons. He was also the pioneer of sunflower farming in Mason County.

Victor is survived by his daughter Victoria (Robert) Ferguson; sons Edwin Larson and Tad Larson, both of Free Soil; and Greg (Rebecca) Larson of Hokah, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers: Allen Larson of Boring, Ore., and David Larson of Nevada City, Cali.; and four sisters: Donna (Lynn) Gatz of Randolph, New York, Esther (Charles) Jones of Niles, Jean (Brian) Larson Sherman of Roseburg, Ore., and Lynn (David) Rognsvoog of Sandy, Ore.; and 19 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia Lenore Gatz, who he married on June 6, 1971, and who passed away on December 2, 2014, and an infant brother John Edwin in March, 1949.

Victor was a member of the Ludington Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  A Memorial Celebration of Victor’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Ludington Seventh-day Adventist Church, 413 East Pere Marquette Street, Ludington.  The family will receive friends at the church from noon until time of service.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Victor’s name may be made to the Ludington Seventh-day Adventist Church.
