Woman allegedly smuggles drugs into jail, bites deputy.

LUDINGTON — A 27-year-old Ludington woman who had been arrested on a probation violation charge reportedly attempted to smuggle pills into the Mason County Jail Wednesday, June 29, at 6:30 p.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“When discovered by deputies, the suspect shoved the pills into her mouth and started to struggle with the deputies,” Cole said. “During the struggle, the suspect reportedly bit a deputy.” The woman faces charges of smuggling contraband into a correctional facility and assaulting an officer.

– 10:43 a.m., (MCSO), three-vehicle crash, minor injuries, US 10 east of Jackson Rd., Pere Marquette Township.

– 10:53 a.m., (MCSO), i​Illegal dumping, 3700 block of US 10-31, Amber Township.

– 4 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), domestic assault, 1000 block of North Blue Heron Drive, City of Ludington.

– 5:13 p.m., (MCSO), four-vehicle crash, minor injuries, US 10 and Jackson Rd., Pere Marquette Township.

– 8:10 p.m., (Michigan State Police), one-car property damage crash, Darr and Wilson roads, Custer Township.

– 9:03 p.m., (MCSO), ​a 28-year-old Farmington Hills man was arrested for second-offense operating while intoxicated following a report of a reckless driver in the Orchard Loop Manistee National Forest Campground, Grant Township.
