LUDINGTON — Ludington Mayor Ryan Cox has announced that he will resign from the position, effective June 30, 2016. Cox will be moving out of the city limits and therefore does not qualify to be mayor any longer.

“While I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving the residents of the city of Ludington for the last 2 1/2 years and moving our great city forward, my family situation requires me to move outside the city,” Cox said in a release. “I am confident that the City Council and the city staff will continue to work hard to make Ludington a great place to live, work and play.”

Mayor Pro-Tem Kaye Ferguson-Holman will take over as mayor until her term expires on Dec. 31, 2016. At the beginning of 2017, the city council will elect a new mayor, in accordance with the city charter. The city will provide information to persons wishing to run for the vacant mayoral position.
