Clara “Irene” Graczyk

Clara “Irene” Graczyk  (many referred to her as “Rene”), 75, of Ludington Michigan passed away surrounded by her family at Ludington Woods Assisted Living Center. She will be greatly missed by all. She was born July 10, 1940 in Fountain to the late Clare E. and Mamie P. (McArthur) Tubbs. She was an only child and attended Free Soil High School, graduating in 1958.

She married the love of her life, Raymond G. Graczyk, on October 20,1962 in Free Soil at St. John Cantius Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2011. Irene was a head cashier for Plumb’s Valu-Rite Foods, Bonser’s Downtown and Eastgate also Shop-N-Save. After semi-retiring she worked for RJ Reynolds and Heartland Distributors. She retired in 2007.

She enjoyed meeting new people and talking with them. Her passions were gardening, canning, her grandchildren, taking rides down to watch the sunsets and Badger. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events and high school basketball games. She loved watching the Detroit Tigers and always decorated her and Ray’s home for Christmas.

She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church.

Irene is survived by her sons Scott (Susie) Graczyk of Ludington and David (Kim) Graczyk of Free Soil; three grandchildren: Whitney Graczyk of Ludington, Katelyn Graczyk of Grand Rapids and Jacob Graczyk currently serving in the Air Force, stationed in Turkey; her brother-in-law Richard Graczyk of Ludington; her sister-in-law Rita (Bernie) McArdle of Muskegon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a visitation Friday, April 1 at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington at 5 to 7 p.m. There also will be a mass that will take place on Saturday April 2, starting with visitation at 10 a.m. before the 11 a.m. mass.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the donors choice.
