Police warn about ‘Microsoft’ phone scam.

March 4, 2016

LUDINGTON — Ludington Police Department is warning residents of a new telephone scam. Sgt. Steve Wietryzkowski said a resident complained that they received a phone call from a person claiming to be from Microsoft and that it is necessary to update the computer. Then, the person on the phone takes control of the computer and will not release control until the victim pays $99.

The sales receipt for the extortion listed International Blessing Web Solutions LLC from Minnesota. Wietryzkowski said he has not yet confirmed if that business is legitimate, but said he doubted it.
