LUDINGTON — A 49-year-old Riverton Township woman pleaded guilty in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Feb. 9, to one felony count of larceny in a building for stealing the prescription drug, Norco, from a home in the 2900 block of Schwass Road.

Melissa Anne Brand-Ray, of 2569 W. Kinney Rd., was arrested last December by the Hart post of the Michigan State Police (MSP) for felonies of second-degree home invasion and larceny in a building.

In exchange for her plea to count two, count one was dismissed.

The plea agreement calls for one year discretionary jail with no more than 45 days up front, along with probation, substance abuse counseling and restitution, according to Mason County Proseuctor Paul Spaniola. Brand-Ray’s sentence is to run concurrently with a Claire County sentence, Spaniola said.

Sentencing is set for April 5 at 11:45 a.m.
