HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A 42-year-old Ludington man has been hospitalized following a near-drowning this afternoon at Ludington State Park. According to Mason County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Steve Hansen, the man was riding in a kayak when it flipped over near the Big Sable River dam. Hansen said he was participating in a video shoot. The man was removed from the water by people who were with him and he apparently was not breathing. They immediately began CPR. When the first emergency crew arrived, the man was breathing again on his own.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Hamlin Township Fire Department, Ludington State Park personnel and Life EMS. No other information was available at this time.
