Suicidal man arrested for assaulting deputy

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 29-year-old Ludington man was arrested for resisting/opposing/assaulting a police officer Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10:21 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lancer Lane after Mason County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a “suicidal subject” involving a man with a knife cutting himself, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“Upon arrival, the man reportedly rushed at his mother and assaulted a deputy who attempted to get between the man and his mother,” Cole said. “The man was treated at Spectrum Health/Ludington Hospital for self-inflicted cuts and then lodged in the Mason County Jail.

– 5:33 p.m., (MCSO), a 16-year-old Custer male was cited into juvenile court on charges of unlawfully driving away of an automobile, joy riding, operating without a license and possession of tobacco following an investigation Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 3:33 a.m. when deputies responded to a “prowler” call in the 6500 block of North Tuttle Road in Sherman Township. During the investigation, deputies found a vehicle stuck in the mud and later identified the 16-year-old as the person who reportedly took the vehicle.

– 11:40 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Bryant Road and William Street, City of Ludington. An MCSO patrol car on an emergency run struck a deer causing significant damage to the patrol car.

– 5:42 p.m., (MCSO), a 35-year-old Greenville man was arrested for driving while license suspended and on an outstanding felony warrant out of Kent County charging him with third-offense operating while intoxicated, PM Hwy. and Conrad Road, PM Township.
