PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 29-year-old Ludington woman was arrested in the 5700 block of Limouze Road, on a bond violation after deputies from MCSO and probation/parole agents conducted a check on her residence and she reportedly tested positive for drugs, almost nine hours after she was released on bond from the Mason County Jail.

Elizabeth Marie Whitaker was arraigned Friday, August 28 in 79th District Court on one count of perjury during a court proceding. The charge is related to Whitaker’s testimony during a trial in Mason County in February of 2014, according to a press release from the State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT). Perjury is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Whitaker was released from jail at 3 p.m. Friday and was re-arrested at 11:51 p.m. that same night.

Whitaker was initially arrested at her home Thursday, Aug. 27, by SSCENT (State, Sheriff, Chief Enforcement of Narcotics Team) detectives, Michigan Department of Corrections probation/parole officers, and Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
