creature feature 2 (1)LUDINGTON – Character Creature Features, a creative collaboration of third and seventh grade student artists from Pentwater Public Schools will be on display at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts Gallery from August 4-29.

Carrie Jeruzal, K-12 art educator for Pentwater Public Schools, offered this description for the exhibit: “Third graders came together with seventh grade students from Pentwater Pubic Schools to create a creature based on randomly chosen positive character traits.  Younger students worked with the older students to create a drawing of the creature.  The seventh grade students then created a ‘plushie’ soft sculpture based on that drawing.  The third grade students created burlap stitched paintings based on the drawings as well.  Next, student teams wrote a story and then a skit based on their positive character traits.  Skits were made into iMovies and then embedded into the drawings through Augmented Reality by the seventh graders.  To view the exhibit the app Aurasma is needed on a smart phone, iPad or tablet. The exhibit includes 21 drawings, burlap paintings and soft sculpture as well as Augmented Reality presentations.”

There will be an artists reception open to the public with light refreshments on Friday, August 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. Music will be provided by Canopy Space.
