Motocycle crash victims flown to GR.

UPDATED: LOGAN TOWNSHIP — Two Fountain area people involved in a Sunday morning motorcycle crash in southeastern Mason County were both sent to a Grand Rapids hospital following the crash.

The crash occurred about 8:30 a.m. Sunday on Masten Road south of Hawley Road. The Michigan State Police reported that the motorcycle, with two occupants, was traveling south on Masten Road when the motorcycle struck a deer. Both occupants were thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the crash. The MSP has not released the names of the victims.

A 68-year-old man and 63-year-old woman were both critically injured from the crash. Both were transported by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and were then transported by Aeromed helicopter to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

MSP reported that both occupants were wearing helmets; neither speed nor alcohol were considered factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.

Responding to the scene were Michigan State Police, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Carr Fire Department, Branch Fire Department and Life EMS.
