LUDINGTON – The Mason County District Library of Ludington will be holding its kick-off party for its Summer Reading Program from 7-9 p.m. this Friday. This year’s theme is “Every Hero Has a Story” and librarians Eric Smith and Sue Carlson believe that every child can be exposed to becoming their own hero by reading a good book and what a better way than the summer reading program.

Sign up for the program will start Friday night and the entire program will last until Labor Day weekend. Enrollees can be readers themselves or be read to and there is no minimum age require. The only requirement is that participants take 20 minutes out of each day and read. Eric and Sue say as long as the participants are reading the content doesn’t really matter, from classic novels to magazines to comic books, reading is reading and it all counts.

Mason County Press, senior correspondent, Kate Krieger met with Eric and Sue to hear more about the reading program.
