April 25, 2015

PENTWATER — The Pentwater Service Club has a busy upcoming schedule, which includes:

– April 30, Erin McDonough, president and CEO of the Michigan Oil and Gas Association, will speak about how exploration can benefit the state.

– May 7, monthly business meeting.

– May 14, Randy Clarmut of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will discuss Lake Michigan’s changing fish population.

– May 21, club member Chris Dunnan will provide an update on the new COVE facility in Ludington. During the evening, members and their spouses/guests will gather for dinner at the Pentwater Yacht Club.

– May 28, club members and their guests will enjoy a music program provided by the Pentwater High School band.

This summer, club members will once again grill brats and hot dogs in the iconic Bill Duncan Food Wagon at several festivals on the Village Green. The club will also sponsor the Pentwater Sand Sculpture Contest Aug. 14 at Charles Mears State Park, and walk the Homecoming parade route Aug. 15 to collect donations to help the Pentwater Chamber of Commerce pay for the fireworks on July 3 and Aug. 15.

With drones often in the news, club members learned at their April 24 meeting how area resident Johann Risner uses one in his Lakeshore Aerial business in Ludington to create stunning photographs and videos.

Between September and June, the club meets at Pentwater Public School every Thursday beginning at 11:15 a.m. Lunch follows at 12:20 p.m. Programs typically feature area leaders discussing topics of interest or local needs.  The club welcomes new members, and more information can be found at Pentwater Service Club.
