LUDINGTON — A 30-year-old Ludington man was ordered to serve five months upfront of a one-year discretionary jail sentence Tuesday, April 21, in 51st Circuit Court for stealing over $1,200 in electronics from Walmart.

Jason Lee Carr, who is currently lodged in the Mason County Jail, was given credit for 65 days served. Carr, who is convicted of first-degree retail fraud, was also ordered to serve one and half years probation. Judge Susan Sniegowski allowed work release as long as it meets with the conditions of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola said Carr has an operating while intoxicated charge pending in Muskegon County, which he described as a “companion crime,” since his arrest occurred shortly after the retail fraud offense.
