Spaniola joins LACA staff.

LUDINGTON — Jeff Spaniola has recently joined the staff of Ludington Area Center for the Arts. Spaniola will manage arts administration and serve as a liaison to the organization’s Development and Programming Committees. He joins the LACA leadership team comprised of Executive Director Corinn VanWyck and Executive Assistant/West Shore Art Fair Coordinator Christine Plummer.

“We are thrilled that Jeff has joined our team,” said Corinn VanWyck, executive director of the LACA. “His knowledge in the field of music performance is as invaluable as his experience and interest in arts administration.” Jeff began playing bass at the age of 9. He is a 2007 graduate of Ludington High School where he played in the LHS Jazz Band and LHS Orchestra. In addition to attending both Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Interlochen Arts Academy in high school, Spaniola has spent six summers working at the two camps. Spaniola said of his new position, “The arts center is such a wonderful resource for the community and I’m so excited to help improve and promote this great place.”

Spaniola received a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Michigan State University and is a 2014 graduate of Chicago College of Performing Arts with a master’s in music performance. He has performed with numerous jazz groups and orchestras in Michigan and the Chicago area. Highlights include: Soloist and principal bassist with the Virtuoso Philharmonic of Chicago, substitute principal bass with the Dearborn Symphony, and performing numerous times with west Michigan jazz great, Tim Froncek. Spaniola was also a semifinalist in the 2013 International Society of Bassists orchestral competition.
