Obit: Cora Courteau, 92, Scottville.

Cora D. Courteau, aged 92 of Scottville, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the home of her daughter Judith in Belmont.  Cora was born on March 9, 1923 in Beach, North Dakota to Ernest and Theresa (Luhr) Feldmann, and earned her registered nurse degree in Billings, Montana.  While serving as a nurse, Cora met Lee Courteau, a veteran of World War II, and they married on November 22, 1948 in Billings and celebrated 65 years together before Lee preceded her in death on February 24, 2014. Lee and Cora moved their family to Scottville in 1965 and operated Andersen’s Nursery and Greenhouses until their retirement.

Growing up on the family farm in North Dakota, Cora loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers. As one of seven children, she developed many talents like cooking, sewing, crocheting, craft work, and appreciated the love of family.  As a woman of strong faith, she was a member of the Pentecostal Temple in Midland.

Along with her husband Lee, Cora was preceded in death by her parents, her son David, her sisters Edna Strum, and Irene Feldman, and her brothers Lawrence and Leonard Feldmann.  Cora will be lovingly remembered as the beloved mother of Susan (Robert) Hager of Spring Lake, Robert (Nancy) Courteau of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, William Courteau of Lansing, Judith (David) Mordis of Belmont, Gail (Gordon) Larsen of Sanford, Thomas Courteau of Scottville, James (Cindy) Courteau of Ashland City, Tennessee, Theresa (Herb) Moore of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Steven Courteau of Allendale. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, her sister Dena Feldmann of Beach, North Dakota, her brother Irvin Feldmann of Saskatchewan, Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held for Cora at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 21 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville with brothers Michael Parson and Earl Carrier officiating.  Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville later this spring. Friends may meet with Cora’s family for a time of visitation on Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.  Those who wish to make memorial contributions may make them to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Please visit Cora’s personal memory page at www.wymanfuneralservice.com to leave a tribute of Cora for her family, or to light a candle in her memory.
