Janet Swearingen

Janet Dawn Vorac-Daugherty-Swearingen went to our Lord Monday March 16, 2015. She was born March 15, 1932 in Ludington. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Vorac, her mother Grace Irene Chrismer-Vorac-Dawson, and two husbands Robert L. Daugherty and Leo A. Swearingen. She is survived by her son Rodney R. Daugherty, daughter Jeannette M. Daugherty-Fenner, granddaughter Tanya M. Fenner-Walter and two great grand daughters Alyssa and Emilie Walter.

Janet lived in the Ludington area 40 years followed by 28 years in Three Lakes, Mich. before returning to the family farm in 2000.  She enjoyed fruit farming, the fruit market and would never allow herself to be without a horse or more. She raised quarter horses, morgans, pintos and calico cats. She would carry this passion into her desire to mentor local youth. Her quote in her high school yearbook “love me, love my horse” stuck with her until the end. She was active in the Mason County Saddle Club and 4H leadership. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and camping.

A memorial is planned Saturday March 21 from 2-6 p.m. at the Summit Township hall located at 4879 Deren Rd., Ludington.

Please feel free to share a photo or a memory with Janet’s family at www.oakgrovefh.com. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
