K-9 discovers cocaine; suspect facing multiple drug charges

CUSTER TWP. — Cash, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit dog, located suspected cocaine concealed in the back seat of a vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 7:35 p.m. at  US-10 and Schoenherr Road.

As a result, a 33-year-old Mount Clemens man, who was a backseat passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver; possession of marijuana; and possession of acetaminophen/hydrocodone.

Other MCSO activity Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 includes:

– 6:01 a.m., vehicle/tree crash, no injuries, Lakeshore and Kansas, Hamlin Twp.

– 6:10 a.m., car/deer crash, no injuries, US-10 east of Custer Rd., Custer Twp.

– 7 a.m., car/deer crash, no injuries, Kinney and Masten, Logan Twp.

– 7:28 a.m., three-vehicle crash, no injuries, US-10 west of US-31 bypass, Amber Twp.

– 7:30 a.m., two-vehicle broadside crash, no injuries, US-10 and Brye, Amber Twp.

– 9 a.m., one-vehicle rollover crash, minor injuries, Stiles and Dewey, Victory Twp., a 20-year-old Manistee man was treated for minor injuries after his southbound (on Stiles Road) vehicle lost control; ran off the west side of the road; and overturned.

– 2:23 p.m., a 60-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, second offense, following a two-vehicle sideswipe crash, no injuries, US-10 and Dennis, Amber Twp.
