Man arrested after driving car into Round Lake.

springstead_carter_2SHERIDAN TWP. — A 65-year-old Free Soil man, who failed to stop for a stop sign, ended up driving his vehicle into a lake early Sunday morning. Deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office arrested the man and charged him with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a vehicle crash at the corner of Benson and Sugar Grove roads Sunday morning at 3:38 a.m. The man was arrested after he reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign and then drove his vehicle into Round Lake. The man was uninjured.

Other activity of the sheriff’s office for the weekend of Oct. 24-26, 2014 included:

October 24:

  • 7:34 a.m.: A 41-year-old Free Soil man was arrested for driving while license suspended second offense and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at U.S. 10 and Nelson Rd., Pere Marquette Twp.
  • 7:36 a.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, U.S. 31 expressway south of U.S. 10, Amber Twp.
  • 8:13 a.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Hansen and LaSalle roads, Amber Twp.
  • 9:33 a.m.: Larceny of a cell phone, West Shore Community College, 3000 N. Stiles Rd., Victory Twp. Cell phone was recovered, charges pending.
  • 11:21 a.m.: Fraud, 300 block of South Main St., Village of Custer. Subject attempted to apply for unemployment benefits under another person’s name.
  • 1:41 p.m.: Unwanted person, Secretary of State Office, U.S. 10, P.M. Hwy. Subject reportedly caused a disturbance and refused to leave.
  • 2:24 p.m.: Missing person, 3300 block of South Tuttle Rd., Eden Twp. A 14-year-old juvenile went missing on an ATV but returned a short time later.
  • 4:41 p.m.: Gas drive off of $70.01, 5900 block of West U.S. 10, P.M. Twp.

October 25:

  • 12:39 a.m.: A 57-year-old Ludington man was cited for DWLS, first citation, following a traffic stop at Robert and Haight streets, City of Ludington.
  • 1:59 a.m.: A 32-year-old Mount Clemens man was arrested on two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for domestic violence and DWLS second offense. The original charges were made by Ludington Police Department. The arrest took place in the 200 block of South James St., City of Ludington.
  • 10:43 a.m.: A 29-year-old Custer man was arrested for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at Custer and Johnson roads, Custer Twp.
  • 7:15 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Jebavy Dr. and Bryant Rd., P.M. Twp.
  • 10:24 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, U.S. 31 and Fountain Rd., Victory Twp.

October 26:

  • 5:24 a.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Hansen and Schoenherr roads, Custer Twp.
  • 10:58 a.m.: Breaking and entering, Ruby Creek Tavern, 7900 block of East Washington Rd., Logan Twp. Cash stolen.
  • 4:17 p.m.: A 20-year-old Ludington woman was arrested and charged with DWLS second offense and also a warrant arrest, following a traffic stop at U.S. 10 west of U.S. 31 expressway, Amber Twp. The warrant stemmed from a charge from Ludington Police Dept. of furnishing a false identification.
  • 7:27 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Jebavy Dr. and Dewey Rd., Hamlin Twp.
  • 9:07 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Hawley and Morton roads, Riverton Twp.
  • 11:49 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, Scottville and Marrison roads, Eden Twp.
