Hospital Harvest Gathering provides food, funds to feed those in need

October 22, 2014

LUDINGTON — Employees and visitors at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital (SHLH) provided 338 pounds of food in the annual statewide Harvest Gathering food drive this year. In addition, employees donated $1,900 in cash, through dress down day contributions, a bake sale, an auction and other activities.

The donations from SHLH will go to a variety of local agencies in Ludington for distribution to area residents. Monetary donations will be used to purchase additional food for those in need of assistance.

The Michigan Health and Hospitals Association (MHA) organizes the fall food drive, which raises food and funds for Michigan’s emergency food response. At the Ludington hospital the business office staff organizes and leads the Harvest Gathering each year.

MHA expects to announce statewide results in late November, after all hospitals have held their food drives.
