LUDINGTON — A 67-year-old Ludington man, who was attempting to rescue his dog, was rescued from Pere Marquette Lake around 8 a.m. this morning by Coast Guard personnel. Petty Officer Second Class Brian Jacobs said a Coast Guard crew was preparing for its daily escort of the S.S. Badger when it was informed by the carferry’s crew that a man was in the water near Harborview Marina.

Coast Guard personnel were able to quickly find the man and pull him out of the water, Jacobs said. They were unable to find the 15-month-old puppy, however. Jacobs said the man was transported back to Coast Guard Station Ludington where he was dried off and checked over by personnel from Life EMS ambulance. The man did not require hospitalization.
