51st Circuit Court sentencings include CSC, assaulting police officer.

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced Tuesday, Oct. 14, in 51st Circuit Court by Judge Richard Cooper:

Vanvleet

Vanvleet

– Nicholas Allan VanVleet, 32, of 602 E. Danaher St., Ludington, was found guilty Sept. 9 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) – under 13 and second-degree CSC – under 13. He was sentenced to a minimum of nine years and a maximum of 40 years in a Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) prison for Count I and a minimum of three years, six months to a maximum of 15 years in a MDOC prison for Count II. He was given credit for one day served in jail. Counts run concurrent, and he is subject to lifetime monitoring upon release from prison. He was ordered to pay $266 in fines and costs. HIV testing and sex offender registration is completed. Two counts of first-degree CSC – under 13 were dismissed.

– Harold Jesse Brower, 53, of 502 N. Main St., Scottville, was found guilty Aug. 21 of unlawful possession, manufacture or transfer of an eavesdropping device. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail with credit for one day served; serve 60 days up front with balance to be served at the court’s discretion; work release must meet Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) guidelines;18 months probation; and $348 in fines and costs. One attempted capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person was dismissed.

– James Anthony Walkley, 25, of 147 Bonnie St., Ludington, was found guilty Sept. 2 of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. He was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for one day served; serve four months up front with balance to be served at the court’s discretion; no contact with victim in domestic assault case; two years probation; and $498 in fines and costs. One count of habitual offender, third conviction was dismissed.

– Corey Alexander Clark, 29, of 916 N. Rath Ave., Ludington, was found guilty Sept. 2 of controlled substance delivery – schedule 1, 2, 3. He was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for one day served; serve 10 months up front with balance to be served at the court’s discretion; after serving nine months in jail, may be released to outpatient treatment; driver’s license suspended 30 days/restricted 150 days; and $701 in fines, costs and restitution.
