Scottville likely to raise Riverside Park camping rates.

September 8, 2014

SCOTTVILLE — City commission is expected to approve raising Riverside Park camping rates during its regular meeting tonight.

Camping rates at the city-owned park have not been increased since 2006, with the exception of seasonal camping rates which were raised slightly a few years ago, according to City Manager Amy Williams.

“The park has some increased costs that hadn’t been figured into the rates such as sewer and water, cable television, propane and electricity,” Williams said. “The utility bills have increased each year but we’ve been maintaining the same daily rates.  We took a survey of other campgrounds in our area and we were either the lowest or one of the lowest for what amenities we offered.”

The city’s parks and recreation board is recommending the following changes effective May 1, 2015:

Nightly (modern), currently $25 increase to $30

Nightly (primitive), currently $20 increase to $25

Monthly, currently $500 increase to $600

Seasonal, currently $1,800 increase to $2,000

City commission meets at 5:30 p.m. at city hall, 105 N. Main St.
