MCC jazz band at shell tonight

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central High School Jazz Band will perform at the Scottville Clown Band Shell tonight at 7 p.m. Opening up for the jazz band will be the rock trio Redline (see related story here) — which is made up of MCC band students — at 6:30 p.m.

Tonight’s show will be a sneak preview of the band’s performance this weekend at the Detroit Jazz Festival. MCC is one of six high schools selected to perform at the festival this year.

MCC Jazz Band, under the direction of Tom Thomas, traditionally ends the band shell Tuesday night concert series. However, the season will include one more performance next Tuesday.

The band was formed in 1986 by now-retired music director John Petersen.
