We are able to bring this free news and information service to you because of the generous support of our advertisers. Urka Auto Center is one of Mason County’s heritage businesses. It was founded in the 1920s in downtown Scottville by Matt Urka.

Matt originally sold used cars before getting a Nash franchise in 1937. Nash was the forerunner brand that later became American Motors Corporation.  In 1953 Urka’s changed from a Nash dealership to a Chevrolet dealership. In 1967 Buick was added to the line and in 1976 Cadillac was added when the dealership moved to its present location at 3736 W. US 10-31 in Amber Township, between Scottville and Ludington.

Urka’s added American Motors Jeep in 1981, which later became Chrysler Jeep.

Four generations of the Urka family have been involved in the dealership. It now concentrates on selling Chevrolet and Buick, along with a line of quality used vehicles.
