Beach hazard issued, thunderstorms possible tonight

Tuesday, July 22, 2014: The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a beach hazard statement beginning 10 a.m. today through this evening. High wave action and strong currents will cause dangerous conditions. 

Lake Michigan surface temperature at Ludington Stearns Park is 67.

Mostly sunny with increasing winds. Temperatures rising towards the low 80s. Winds SSW at 15 to 20 mph. Tonight: Scattered thunderstorms during the evening. Partly cloudy skies after midnight. A few storms may be severe. Low 59F. WSW winds shifting to N at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
