fair_flagsPERE MARQUETTE TWP. — Ten flags and flagpoles were stolen from the front fence of the Mason County Fairgrounds sometime in the last two days. The flags contain the logos and names of the major sponsors of the Western Michigan Fair.

Fair board President Kirk Myers said the flags stolen included Freeman Creek Equipment, Bud Light, Towns Brothers, Hallack Contracting, Unique Motor Sports, Murphy USA, Wal-Mart and Team Elmers.

“It’s despicable that anyone would do something like this,” Myers said, adding the flags are valued at around $225 each, plus the cost of the poles. New flags have been ordered for the fair that begins Aug. 5.

Anyone who has information should contact the Mason County Sheriff’s Office at 231-843-3475. Myers said a reward is being offered.
