UPDATE:

PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — The driver who struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk this morning has been issued a ticket for failure to yield. The crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. when the pedestrian was attempting to cross U.S. 10 at the Jebavy Drive intersection; he had the right-of-way, as do all pedestrians crossing with the green light.

He was struck by a Lexus SUV driven by an 80-year-old Ludington woman. Initial information was not immediately available because the woman was not being cooperated, according to deputies on scene.

The pedestrian, a 57-year-old Ludington man, was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital where he was treated and released. Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Pere Marquette Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department and Life EMS responded.

The Lexus SUV was turning east onto U.S. 10 from Jebavy Drive and struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
