Obit: Marion “Tye” Tykoski, 90, Manistee

Marion Joseph “Tye” Tykoski, age 90 of Manistee, Michigan died at his home on Sunday, May 25, 2014 after a battle with cancer.

He was born on November 17, 1923 in Manistee, Michigan, son of the late Nick and Martha (Rozga) Tyczkowski. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during World War II, from February 24, 1943 until March 30, 1946. Shortly after his release from the Army, Marion attended Neon Sign College in Chicago, Illinois and then returned to Manistee, starting his sign business, “Tye’s Neon Signs”, which he continued to work at until his recent illness. Tye married Lois (Yeck) at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer, Michigan on July 18, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2013. He was a member of the Catholic Community of Manistee (Saint Joseph Parish).

He is survived by one daughter Sherry Tykoski of Manistee, MI, and one son and daughter in-law, David and Lenore Tykoski of Scottville, MI, three grandchildren, Nicholas (Heather) Tykoski of Ludington, MI, Casey (Josh) White of Laingsburg, MI, and Joshua (Katie) Hiller of Spring Lake, MI, three great grandchildren, Cole and Lucy White of Laingsburg, MI, and Aiden Tykoski of Ludington, MI, one brother and sister in-law, Floyd and Delores Tyczkowski, his sister Sally Hansen all of Manistee, MI, his sister and brother in-law, Phyllis and Jim Smith of  Grand Haven, MI, his sister Bernadine Borucki of Cadillac, MI, and his sister in-law, Pat Tyczkowski of Manistee, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Tye was preceded in death by his wife, Lois of sixty years, his parents Nick and Martha (Rozga) Tyczkowski,  two brothers, Joseph Tyczkowski and  Ervin Tyczkowski, a sister in-law, Jeanette Tyczkowski, his brothers in-law, Robert Hansen of Manistee and Robert Borucki of Cadillac, brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Richard and Mary Anna Yeck of Ludington, and Gordon and Ann Yeck of Muskegon.

Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend John McCracken, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday morning, one hour prior to the funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
