LUDINGTON — Connie VanLoon, certified medical staff coordinator at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, is the new president of the Michigan Association Medical Staff Services (MAMSS). Her two-year term officially began May 1, and she will be formally installed as president May 8 at the association’s 35th anniversary conference and dinner in Dearborn.

MAMSS is the Michigan branch of the National Association Medical Staff Services, the professional organization for people responsible for credentialing and recredentialing physicians and advanced practice providers, as well as regulatory compliance for medical staff organizations. In addition, VanLoon operates the hospital’s physician referral line to help people find a doctor, and facilitates medical staff meetings and communication between physicians.

She is a certified provider credentialing specialist who started at the hospital in 1980 as assistant to the director of nursing and two other departments. She was named to her present position in 1992.

As president of MAMSS, she coordinates the efforts of the organization’s board and its five Michigan chapters to promote membership and professional development within the organization. She will represent MAMSS with other health care organizations at the state and national levels.
